Transfer News: Tottenham in talks with Franck Kessie over free transfer
According to transfer news from Alessandro Jacobone (h/t The Sun), Tottenham are planning to bring in AC Milan star Franck Kessie on a free transfer next season. His contract is set to expire over this season and Spurs have wasted no time in contacting his agent and also offering him a wage packet of £6.9million per season.
The 24-year-old Ivorian had an explosive season in Serie A last time around. The dynamic box-to-box midfielder appeared in 37 league games and produced a tally of 13 goals and 6 assists from midfield. He was certainly one of the major reasons behind Milan’s charge for the Scudetto. They finished 2nd in the table, 12 points behind champions and rivals Inter Milan.
Milan are in a pickle with Kessie. His current deal ends in less than a year and from January 2022, he can speak to other foreign clubs regarding a Bosman transfer. Spurs are hoping to swoop in and take advantage of the same. It would seem they have already gone ahead and established contact with his agent.
An offer of £6.9million per season is said to have been tabled by Fabio Paratici and it has also been suggested that his agent would also receive a decent commission for brokering a deal. In all likelihood, Kessie seems like a potential replacement for Tanguy Ndombele who might still leave the club.

Given the problems with Ndombele, it certainly seems a wise idea to plan for a backup. The Ivorian can be a huge asset for the club if they can manage to get him. An all-action midfielder, he can be an upgrade on most of the options at the north London outfit.
