Transfer News: Tottenham hold talks with agents of Houssem Aouar
According to transfer news from Sky Sports (h/t Daily Mail), Tottenham have opened talks with the representatives of Houssem Aouar. However, the player is said to be preferring a move to a Champions League club, something that might work against Spurs.
Houssem Aouar became a household name with Lyon ever since his exploits with the club in 2020. It was after all he who ran the show from midfield for the club as they went through some of the heavyweights in the Champions League right into the semi-finals.
The France midfielder went on to enjoy another successful season with eight goals and four assists. But he is likely to be sold as club president Juninho is even willing to accept a discounted price of less than £25m for the French midfielder.
Spurs have now opened talks regarding a move for Aouar. They have spoken to his entourage, but the fact that he preferably wants a Champions League club is working at a disadvantage. It is known that Spurs are playing in the inaugural Conference League this season which means that no Champions League will be on offer.

Aouar is a name Spurs should try to get despite those issues. They could use that bit of added creativity and guile in midfield that he can offer. It’s hard to say if he chooses Spurs over a Champions League club but if he does, it would be a huge coup for us.
