Fans react as Tottenham Hotspur win against Watford
Tottenham Hotspur picked up a well-fought-out victory against Watford on Sunday, thanks to a beautiful free-kick by Son Heung-min. Spurs fans were delighted with the fact that Harry Kane, who had a lot of speculation surrounding him over the summer, started his first Premier League game of the season after he snapped up a brace in the UEFA Europa Conference League in mid-week.
Tottenham started the first half brightly and had a couple of clear chances, but the Hornets defended pretty well for the first half an hour. However, they did end up conceding a free-kick.
The South Korean’s execution turned out to be even better as he managed to whip it into an extremely dangerous area and the ball found the back of the net as Watford’s keeper Daniel Bachmann remained confused about whether to come out and punch the ball or wait for somebody to clear it out.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men entered half-time with a goal to the good, and they knew their job when they came out for the second half. Spurs managed the game well in midfield as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg intercepted most balls, which in turn, allowed the likes of Kane, Son, and Bergwijn to counter-attack.
Although nothing came off it, Spurs defended brilliantly and restricted the Hornets to only two shots on target. This victory means that Tottenham now move up to the top of the Premier League table and are the only club to have managed a perfect record until now.
