Nuno Espirito Santo speaks out on the future of Hugo Lloris at Tottenham
According to Independent, Nuno Espirito Santo has remained quiet over the future of Hugo Lloris at Tottenham. The custodian is out of contract after this season and there have been no talks over a potential extension. Even Nuno dodged the question and simply chose to praise him.
Ever since making the number one spot his own, Lloris has been a constant reassuring presence in the side. He has seen the club climb up from mid-table to being regulars in the Champions League. Over that time he has been one of the best keepers in Europe saving the blushes for Spurs on many occasions.
While Lloris has seen some errors creep into his game over the last few seasons, he is still by far the best name Spurs have at their disposal. Against Wolves, Lloris became the only Spurs player to make 300 Premier League appearances, highlighting his immense longevity. However, questions remain over his future.
Lloris’ current deal ends this season and there has been no indication from the club of handing him an extension. That has left questions and Nuno Espirito Santo was asked about the same but he allowed little to peep through (h/t Independent).
“I think what Hugo achieved is huge, playing 300 matches for a club. It shows a lot of dedication and loyalty and hard work. This is what we expect from all of us, hard work, and Hugo is not an exception. He’s playing fantastically and he needs to keep on going. Every one of us keeps on going and improving.”

Spurs still have some time to get the situation sorted. However, from January next year, he will be free to talk to other clubs over a free transfer. Lloris maybe 34 but that is still a decent age for keepers. He looks like he has a few more years in the tank and Spurs should try to offer him an extension.
