Transfer News: Tottenham enter race for Jeremy Doku
According to transfer news from Jeunes Footeaux (h/t Daily Star), Tottenham have entered the race for Jeremy Doku. It was Liverpool who had been after the Rennes starlet through the summer but now Spurs have made their interest known.
Jeremy Doku started his youth career at Beerschot before joining Anderlecht’s academy in 2012. The highly-rated forward spent six years in the club’s youth system before making his professional debut back in November 2018, aged just 16. The Belgian youngster would change clubs over last summer.
He shot to prominence last season with his performances for Rennes in Ligue 1. In 37 games for the French side, he scored twice and assisted four. While those are rookie numbers, it was his pace and dribbling abilities that shone through. His exploits for Belgium in the Euros also made sure that top clubs take notice.
Liverpool have long earmarked the winger as a successor to Sadio Mane. However, Tottenham have made their interest known and are now in the race to sign him. Spurs already signed a winger this season in the form of Bryan Gil but they could do with some young blood in the side to cover for the existing options.
With four competitions to play for, having depth in the ranks will be very much crucial. And, someone like Doku who is still young and can develop further, would thus be a fine addition.

Getting Doku will be easier said than done as he is wanted by Liverpool as well. However, Spurs have shown that they can attract young and talented players such as Bryan Gil and Pape Sarr. Doku can also be a good addition to that list for the future.
