Tottenham urged to beat Arsenal over the signing of Houssem Aouar
According to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), Paul Robinson has urged Tottenham to beat Arsenal to the signing of Houssem Aouar. The former England and Spurs goalkeeper feels that the Lyon youngster can further improve the side and is a bargain deal.
Despite most of the new signings yet to play prominent roles, Spurs have made sure they are off to a flying start this season. They have accrued maximum points from the three games and are top of the table. There is still a chance that Spurs are not really done in the transfer window and just one more signing could head in.
Houssem Aouar is a name Spurs have been after in recent weeks. The Lyon midfielder is a smooth operator on the pitch with his passing abilities. Lyon have also opened up the possibility of selling Aouar and a bargain deal could be landed if a deal can be struck up before the transfer window’s deadline.
Former Spurs keeper, Paul Robinson was of the opinion that the 23-year-old Aouar could further strengthen the side and he can be a bargain signing.
“When you look at the current market, you would probably say that’s a bargain. That type of price for that type of player is not a risk. Tottenham would be getting a top-quality player and a player of similar quality would probably cost £50million-60million. If Spurs could get Aouar for less than £25million it would be good business.”

Spurs can actually land the player on a loan-to-buy deal which is what Lyon are hoping to sanction. This sort of arrangement can also benefit Spurs as they won’t have to shell out a huge amount during this window.
