Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a late move for Emerson Royal
According to the Telegraph (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur are looking to complete a move for Emerson Royal from Barcelona before the end of the summer transfer window.
Spurs have been interested in strengthening their backline this summer, courtesy of which they also completed a move for Cristian Romero from Atalanta.
The North London outfit are now keen on a move for Emerson Royal as they look to boost their options at right-back. Although Nuno Espirito Santo does possess a couple of options in that role, that might not be the case by the end of the transfer window.
Matt Doherty is yet to provide his ‘best’ to the club, while Serge Aurier could be heading for the exit door this summer. The former Paris Saint-Germain right-back has been of interest to Lille, but a deal is yet to be done between all the parties concerned.
However, the Ivorian has not featured in a single game for the club this season and a move might be concluded by the end of the transfer window.
Thus, Spurs’ new director of football, Fabio Paratici, has been looking at some of the options in the market, and the club are now eyeing a move for Emerson, who could join the London club given the Catalonia based club’s financial troubles.
The Brazilian full-back was linked with Arsenal earlier this summer, however, Spurs would love nothing more than jumping ahead and closing a deal ahead of their North London rivals.
