Transfer News: Tottenham could pip Manchester United to Ruben Neves deal
According to transfer news from reports in Portugal (h/ Express), Tottenham are planning to hijack a deal for Ruben Neves. While Manchester United have been linked with the Wolves man all summer, Spurs could swoop in with a late £34million offer.
Back in 2017, a young Ruben Neves took a decision not many would have predicted. Despite being a rising star at Porto, he chose to make a move to the English second tier with Wolves. Within a season, he had helped them reach the Premier League and since then, they have been regulars in the top-flight.
An ace defensive midfielder, Neves plays in midfield with panache. He snuffs out opposition moves and adds an extra body in attack when needed. A fine shooter from distance, Neves has those long-range goals in his locker as well. Hence, it’s not much of a surprise to see him being wanted by Manchester United.
Despite being linked all summer to United, Spurs are now could be set for a late hijack of the deal. The Portuguese could well end up in North London instead of Manchester if a deadline day move goes through within the remaining few hours of the transfer window.

Neves would be a major coup if a deal does indeed go through. It would be even sweeter if Tottenham get him ahead of United who have been after the player for a while. Of course, Neves can be a handy midfield option for us with his abilities and Nuno Espirito Santo knows him well enough to get the best out of him.
