Revealed: Tottenham had Adama Traore bid rejected
According to The Athletic (h/t Express), Tottenham failed with a late move for Adama Traore prior to deadline day. Wolves apparently knocked back a £30m offer from Spurs as they wanted a figure closer to £50m. Traore will be remaining at the Molineux at least until January.
Spurs were quite the active side during the recently closed transfer window. A total of five signings were made during the time which saw the likes of Pierluigi Gollini, Cristian Romero, Bryan Gil, Pape Sarr and Emerson Royal arrive. It also saw the departures of the likes of Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Joe Hart, Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko.
🙌 We are delighted to announce the signing of Pape Matar Sarr from Metz.
The Senegalese international will remain on loan at Metz in Ligue 1 for the rest of the 2021/22 season.

However, there was another name that Spurs were actually after and that was Adama Traore. He was linked with Spurs since Nuno Santo was appointed as manager. After all, it was under his guidance at Wolves that Traore flourished. Fabio Paratici was keen to get the speedy winger for Spurs as well.
Nonetheless, with the transfer window now closed, Traore has not made the move and will be staying put at the Molineux at least until January. It is not that Spurs did not try to get him. They actually made an offer of £30m which was rejected by Wolves on Monday. The Midlands’ outfit were instead looking for a higher fee of £50m.

It is not known whether Spurs return for Traore in January or maybe next season. If not they should. The Spaniard has been a menacing presence for Wolves this season, troubling the best of defenders with ease. A forward like that would no doubt help Spurs reach greater heights.
