Tottenham Hotspur target Adama Traore could be offered new Wolves contract

According to Birmingham Mail (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur target Adama Traore could be offered a new contract by Wolves. Given the new jolt of good form from Traore, Wolves are planning to offer him a new deal which could end any hope Spurs have of returning for him.

Tottenham had a good transfer window especially when compared to previous seasons and it saw an interesting ideology at play. Young players were signed while ageing players like Toby Alderweireld and Moussa Sissoko were shifted out. The likes of Cristian Romero, Pape Sarr, Emerson Royal, etc. could be stars of the future and Nuno Espirito Santo can build a team around them.

However, there were also a few targets that Fabio Partici failed to land and one of them was Adama Traore. Apparently, Wolves were asking for £40million for their star man but Spurs were only willing to pay £30million. Then Wolves took the decision to up their asking price to £50million close to deadline day and it became clear that the deal was not possible.

Traore’s performances this season have been top-notch and the way he danced around Manchester United was a joy to see. That has prompted Wolves to consider a new deal for him due to his blistering form and the current deal ending in two years. That comes as a blow to Spurs who might have returned for him next season.

Spurs can only hope that if he does sign a new deal, the release clause is set somewhere below the £40million mark. That is something only time will tell and the Lilywhites, of course, have no say in this right now. They can only wait to see if Traore signs a new deal or refuses it to help a potential exit next summer.
