Tottenham starlet Oliver Skipp opens up on playing regularly under Nuno Espirito Santo
According to England Football (h/t Football.london), Oliver Skipp has gone on to elaborate his situation at Tottenham and playing regularly under Nuno Espirito Santo. The midfielder is currently away on international duty with England U-21’s but has become a regular in the side under the new manager.
Oliver Skipp is making waves at just 20 years of age. He is a product of the academy and is one of the brightest talents to emerge in recent years. Skipp made his first-team bow back in 2018 and went on to make a couple more appearances over the next two seasons.
Last season, he went to Norwich on loan and it was a hugely successful one for him and the Canaries. He went on to become a regular under Daniel Farke at Carrow Road, helping them win the Championship and subsequently, a promotion to the Premier League. Skipp then returned to Spurs after his loan ended.
There were questions as to whether Skipp would be loaned out again or kept in the side. Nuno has gone on to answer that by handing him starts in all three of the Premier League games so far. The youngster has gone on to speak about playing regularly under Nuno.
“The last few months have been a bit crazy. At the end of the season there was a massive high, winning the Championship title with Norwich, but the second-last game I had the injury.
“But in one way it was a blessing because it was the best time I could have done it because it was during off-season and I could get back fit for pretty much all of pre-season. Then I have managed to start the first three games of the season for Spurs in the Premier League so they are all positives really.”
He also added that the situation this season is a lot different from the last one.
“It is definitely different [this season] but I am not getting carried away because it is only three games and there is a lot more that I need to work on and keep improving to hopefully continue to get those minutes. It definitely feels like it has been a good start but I definitely need to keep improving and keep going.”
