Sardar Azmoun reveals Tottenham offer during the transfer window
According to Soccer RU (h/t Football.london), Zenit St. Petersburg striker Sardar Azmoun went on to reveal that Tottenham sent an offer for him in the summer transfer window. He claimed that he received several offers from clubs such as Lyon, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and Spurs as well. However, he did not want to move and rejected the offers.
Spurs were in a real spot of bother with their striker situation over the summer. Harry Kane had expressed his desire to leave the club and a potential departure meant that the club would be left without an established striker. Carlos Vinicius had returned after his loan spell and so had Gareth Bale.
Manchester City showed quite the initiative in chasing Kane but fell short of Spurs’ asking price of £150million. However, no deal went through and the transfer window was shut. But, it would seem that Spurs did have some contingency plans to bring in another striker and among the options was Sardar Azmoun.
The Iranian striker is an established name in the Russian league with Zenith St. Petersburg. He went on to reveal that several clubs including Tottenham sent offers for him. Azmoun rejected those offers as he wanted to remain with Zenith.
“I had offers from Lyon, Roma, Bayer, and Tottenham. But all the proposals were rejected, this year I will not move anywhere. I never said that I was leaving Zenit. When Lyon made the first offer, Zenit rejected it immediately. I have a contract, even if I wanted to leave, the club will not allow it.”

At this point, it is all water under the bridge with Kane staying back at the club and even getting on the scoresheet. However, it might have been rather interesting to see someone like the 26-year-old Azmoun leading the line for the club.
