Tottenham starlet Bryan Gil has been appointed as the new Spain U-21 captain as confirmed officially. He was recently handed the role and will wear the armband in the games against Lithuania for the UEFA U-21 Championship qualification.
Spain U-21’s began their campaign for the 2023 edition of the competition with a thumping win over Russia. They will play Lithuania tonight and also have the likes of Slovakia, Northern Ireland and Malta in their group. The winners go straight into the finals and the second-placed sides will have to go through play-offs.

The 20-year-old is actually far more experienced than his peers with three senior appearances for Spain. He has also played for the U-23’s but has resumed his duties with the U-21’s for the qualification rounds. Gil would actually not be eligible to play in the tournament given he would be 22 when the time comes.
Regardless, he has been rewarded with the captaincy of the side, highlighting his massive talent and potential. He was superb against Russia in the first game and bagged an assist as well. He will now be hoping to get his first win as captain of the side against Lithuania and making an early rise up the table.
