England boss Gareth Southgate compares Harry Kane to Robert Lewandowski
England manager Gareth Southgate showered praise on Tottenham star Harry Kane with comparisons to Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski (h/t Daily Star). Southgate was of the opinion that the above two strikers and Romelu Lukaku were the three best out and out No. 9’s in the world.
There’s no doubting that Harry Kane is surely among the best strikers in the world. The Spurs star has lit up the Premier League with his consistent levels of goalscoring for years now. While trophies have been hard to come by, that has not stopped Kane from pushing to give it his best for the club. His prolific nature is not just for the club though.
Kane has been leading the England attack with fervour over the last few years and even got close to leading them to their first major trophy 55 years, only to fall short at the Euros. His 40 goals is a remarkable tally to have in less than 70 games. Kane will be in action against arguably the best striker at the moment when England take on Poland.
Robert Lewandowski will be raring to go against the Three Lions given his form. Despite 33 years of age, the Pole is scoring goals at a ridiculous rate. Kane’s manager Southgate was of the opinion that both strikers share a lot of similarities and they, alongside Lukaku, are the top three names in their position.
“I see a lot of comparables with Lewandowksi and Kane in the way they come deeper, play team-mates in, play those excellent passes as well as their finishing capabilities and their range of finishing. There are without doubt similarities. Those three are toward the top of their game.”
