Transfer News: Tottenham ahead of Juventus in race for Franck Kessie
According to transfer news from JuveLive (h/t Express), Tottenham are ahead of Juventus in the race for Franck Kessie. The 24-year-old Ivorian is aware of Spurs’ interest and that has swayed his mind. Fabio Paratici is keen to wrap up a deal in January itself to avoid competing with other sides next season.
Spurs were handed a bit of a reality check when Crystal Palace midfielders dominated their counterparts. Harry Winks seems to have regressed as the seasons have gone while the duo of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp is too defensive-minded. Add to that, Tanguy Ndombele’s routine trips in and out of the side and you have a disjoint midfield.
Hence, it was not surprising that Paratici has already started making plans for January when the transfer window reopens. He has a midfielder in mind and wants to go for Franck Kessie of AC Milan. Kessie has become a regular for Stefano Pioli’s side over the last few seasons and is a reliable asset in the centre of the park.
However, his contract ends this season and that is where Spurs and Juventus were hoping to strike. Apparently, the midfielder is aware of Spurs’ interest in him and is flattered by the same. Paratici has expertise in Serie A and that could get Spurs an advantage over Juventus. A deal could be on the cards as early as January with Paratici looking to move ahead of other clubs.

Granted Spurs will have to spend money if they want Kessie in January. However, it might be better than competing with other clubs such as Juve, Chelsea and Manchester United when he is available for free. This could prove to be a very handy signing if Paratici can get a deal over the line.
