Tottenham Hotspur ace Bryan Gil named on Golden Boy 2021 shortlist
According to Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur starlet Bryan Gil has been named on the Golden Boy 2021 shortlist. The initial 40-man list has been announced which will be trimmed down to half later. Erling Haaland was the recipient of this award last season.
The Golden Boy award is bestowed upon the best young talent aged U-21 during the calendar year. Several greats of the game such as Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fabregas, etc. have won it previously. One of our former players, Rafael van der Vaart, has also won it and was the first-ever player to receive it.

This year too, the competition is tough with a galore of talent making it to the 40-man list. The Premier League will have six representatives and our new boy, Bryan Gil is among them (h/t Mirror). The Spanish winger made the move to London over the summer which saw Erik Lamela head to Sevilla in a swap deal.
Gil has impressed in the limited outings he has been given and loos like a good signing for the present and future. His inclusion in the shortlist for the award should be a huge indication of his immense potential at just 20 years of age. Gil will have a lot of competition as a number of starlets such as Mason Greenwood, Bukayo Saka, Pedri, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, etc. are all there (h/t Mirror).

Former Spurs academy player Noni Madueke is also on the list. As for Gil, this will be a good confidence booster for his abilities; abilities we might get to see in full flow rather soon given the enormous injury crisis at the club. Gil will be hoping to put in good performances and justify his talent.
He would be hoping that he gets the nod for Spurs against Chelsea this weekend in the all-important London derby at the top of the table.
