Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur receive blow in chase of Inter star Milan Skriniar

According to transfer news from Calciomercato (h/t IB Times), Tottenham Hotspur have received a blow in their pursuit of Milan Skriniar. The Slovakian could be about to sign a new contract with Inter Milan which might end any faint hopes Spurs have of landing him.

Tottenham scouted the Serie A for their transfer dealings this season. After all, Fabio Paratici was quite experienced with the Italian landscape during his time at Juventus. That meant Spurs were going to get a good insight into the names they were going to sign. In the end, the Atalanta duo of Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero joined the club.

However, they were not the only names Spurs were after from the Serie A. Milan Skriniar is who we are talking about but he has been a target for the club even before Paratici came in. apparently, Spurs failed with a £30 million bid last summer but still retained some level of interest in the Inter Milan star.

That could all be put to rest now as Skriniar’s latest decision could end Spurs’ hopes of lading him. The Slovakian is close to agreeing on a new deal that will extend his stay till 2025. There will also be a significant hike in his pay. Should the new deal be signed, Spurs can consider him out of their reach.

It can be said that Spurs missed out on a quality defender in the 26-year-old Skriniar. However, it’s not the case that they did not get a talented defender in. Romero can go on to become a very astute signing for the club in time. For now, Spurs fans can forget about the whole Skriniar situation.
