Manchester United release an early update ahead of the trip to Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United will let Anthony Martial leave amid Tottenham interest

According to transfer news from The Sun (h/t Express), Manchester United are prepared to let go of Anthony Martial amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The attacker is among a host of names that have been made available by United. Martial’s availability could see Spurs revisit their interest in him.

It’s rather concerning that Spurs have a paper-thin squad when it comes to attacking reinforcements. Even more worrying is the fact that Harry Kane is the only natural striker in the first team. Spurs did not keep Carlos Vinicius and Gareth Bale after their loan spells. That has left the frontline rather depleted.

Manchester United have quite the opposite problem. Their attack was significantly bolstered to the point that now there is an excess of attacking players. It has seen a number of players drop down the pecking order and potentially having them look towards an exit. Anthony Martial is one of those names.

Not too long ago, the Frenchman was seen by Spurs as a potential target when Manchester City were after Kane in the summer. However, a transfer did not materialise for either striker. Now, Tottenham could get another chance to have a go at Martial as United have put him on the selling list.

Tottenham could surely do with another striker to partner and backup Kane. Granted, Martial is as inconsistent as they get but he is still a decent option to have up one’s sleeve. He has shown good finishing on a lot of occasions and it will be interesting to see if Spurs follow up on their summer interest and pursue the French attacker.
