Glenn Hoddle issues warning to Tottenham ahead of Arsenal clash

Speaking to Premier League Productions (via HITC h/t Football.london), Glenn Hoddle has sent a word of caution to Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the Arsenal clash. The Spurs legend feels that this North London derby is coming at the wrong time for his former club.

The next few days are going to be hectic for Spurs and getting out with wins will be important. Spurs face Wolves tonight in the Carabao Cup and another stern test lies ahead on Sunday with a visit to Arsenal. It would not be so worrying for Spurs had they not faltered in their last three games in all competitions.

Spurs lost the last game to Chelsea

A shock loss to Crystal Palace, a draw at Rennes and a mauling by Chelsea means that they are heading into the game in bad form. Arsenal, on the other hand, have won their last two, albeit by narrow margins. Both teams have had contrasting fortunes on either side of the international break, making this fixture all the more intriguing.

Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle gave his opinion on the game but handed Arsenal some advantage due to their form.

“They [Spurs] go into the Arsenal game, this is a massive game for them, it really is. For both clubs, in many ways, because Arsenal are just getting a little bit of form and points on the board. And Spurs are in this semi-rut. To go against Arsenal, in the North London Derby, it’s probably come at the wrong time. They have to raise themselves.”

Indeed the form factor goes in favour of Arsenal but these derbies are not really regular games. All the external factors go out for a toss and it’s the better team on the day that wins the game. Spurs will be hoping to get one over their rivals on Sunday but they also need a positive result against Wolves tonight.
