Tottenham confident of holding on to Kane amid transfer interest news

Ossie Ardiles give his opinion on the Tottenham future of Harry Kane

Speaking to Casumo (h/t Football.london), Ossie Ardiles was of the opinion that Harry Kane would remain at Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs legend felt that Kane might have started slow but he will get up to speed over the season and in time, maybe overtake the recently passed Jimmy Greaves’ goalscoring record.

Spurs and Kane were in the midst of quite the transfer saga over the recently concluded transfer window. The talismanic striker was the subject of a move to Manchester City but in the end, he had to stay back at the club and pledge his loyalty to the club. However, questions have been asked over his slow start to the season.

Kane has yet to score in the Premier League and his three goals have come in the Conference League Qualifiers and the EFL Cup. Those are unusual numbers for Kane who has been scoring for fun over the last few seasons. A legend of the game and at Spurs as well, Ossie Ardiles somewhat sympathised with him.

The World Cup winner felt that Kane would stay back at Spurs for the foreseeable future and get back to his previously prolific form (h/t Football.london).

“I can see him staying at Tottenham. A lot of this is to do with Harry and with [chairman] Daniel Levy. I believe that Harry is happy at Tottenham and at the moment he is focused on playing football, scoring a lot of goals and doing the best he can.”

Ardiles felt that Kane will eventually get back to his best.

It is true that Kane has the quality and is just probably going through a bit of a slump. And, the goal against Wolves in midweek could be the spark he needs to set the season on fire. Everyone will be hoping that he can show his quality when Tottenham take on Arsenal in the North London derby this weekend.
