Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a deal for Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne
Speaking to Sky Sports Italia (h/t Daily Mail), Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has revealed that he is yet to sign an extension on his current deal at the club amidst Tottenham Hotspur links.
The 30-year-old has been an invaluable asset for the Naples outfit ever since he made the cut for the senior team a decade ago. Moving through the ranks at the club, Insigne needed a couple of loan moves before he fit into the first team. However, he now has the honour of captaining his side.
While he would be appreciative of that honour, he is yet to sign an extension on his contract at the Italian club. Insigne’s current deal expires in 2022, and if he fails to put pen to paper by January, he will be allowed to talk to foreign clubs.
Tottenham are said interested in a move for the attacker as they look to strengthen their frontline. In fact, Spurs had also made an ‘important’ offer after getting in contact with the Italian’s agent earlier this year in July, according to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Daily Mail).
Insigne has now come out and specified that he is not thinking about his contract currently, putting Tottenham on high alert. The 30-year-old told Sky Sports Italia (h/t Daily Mail):
‘I only think about playing and about what happens on the pitch. My agent takes care of the other issues. I always put the team in front, I always work hard, and I always arrive with a smile. I don’t think about the contract, there’s time to discuss with the club. My agent and the club will take care of it, I still have one year.’

Spurs failed in their efforts to sign Danny Ings, Dusan Vlahovic, and Lautaro Martinez this summer, and another attacker would do a world of good for Nuno Espirito Santo & co. The North London outfit will be hoping to convince the attacker of their project and leave Napoli after featuring in over 400 games for the Serie A club.
