Tottenham Hotspur suffer blow in race to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Adam Traore
According to the Daily Mail (h/t The Express), Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to offer a mega-contract to Adama Traore to keep him at the club amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 25-year-old winger has become a hugely popular figure at Molineux over the years due to his contributions and eye-catching performances. Although Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked by the club in the summer, Bruno Lage has continued to select the Spaniard in the starting lineup.
However, that might not have been the case as Nuno was eyeing a reunion with the Barcelona youth product at Tottenham. Spurs currently possess the likes of Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Giovani Lo Celso, Heung-Min Son, and Bryan Gil, and another winger could add a lot of impetus to the ranks.
Given that Traore will enter the final year of his contract next summer, Spurs could have eyed a deal again for the winger, but that might not be a possibility anymore. This is because the Midlands club are now said to be ready to offer the Spaniard a mega deal.
Wolves are prepared to make the 25-year-old one of the top earners at the club. Their improvised offer will see the winger get much closer to the highest earner in Joao Moutinho, who is earning £100,000-per-week, according to Daily Mail (h/t The Express).
Currently, Traore is pocketing £55,000-per-week, according to Spotrac (h/t The Express). Thus, the Molineux outfit are hoping that the improved offer will help keep the Spaniard at the club.

This would be a huge blow for Spurs and Nuno as they would have been hoping to add to their ranks by bringing in a Premier League seasoned winger like the Wolves man. But for now, the club can put their trust in Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min, Bryan Gil, and Steven Bergwijn on the wings.
