Rafael van der Vaart believes Son Heung-min can stay at Tottenham Hotspur forever
Speaking on N17 live (h/t football.london), Former Tottenham Hotspur ace Rafael van der Vaart has expressed his pleasure about Son Heung-min and believes the South Korean can stay at Tottenham Hotspur forever.
The Dutch international made 63 Premier League appearances for the North London outfit and went on to score 24 league goals and provided a further 15 assists. However, his former Hamburger SV teammate Son Heung-min has done one over him in this aspect as the South Korean is likely to complete 300 appearances for the club very soon.
The 29-year-old joined the club in 2015 under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino and has been incredible ever since. In 289 appearances, Son has knocked in 110 goals and has provided 66 assists but is yet to win some silverware.
He played a huge role in getting the club to the 2019 UEFA Champions League final while he also became the main man for Jose Mourinho last season as he formed an incredible partnership with Harry Kane.
With no signs of slowing down, Van der Vaart now believes that his former teammate could stay at the North London club forever and expressed his pleasure over the good job done by him. The Dutchman told N17 live (h/t football.london):
“There was only one player I felt…he’s the one, and that was Sonny. Then we start playing together, and we were so good together…Every time when I see him scoring here [Tottenham Hotspur Stadium]…I’m so happy for him.
“He’s so humble, he’s so thankful that he’s playing here…I think he could stay his whole life here.”

The South Korean is one of the few forwards who is finding his feet under Nuno Espirito Santo and was on show on the weekend again when he provided 2 assists against Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old would have to play a crucial role if Spurs do hope to finish in the Top 6 this season, something they failed to do last season.
