Tottenham Hotspur are on alert as Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic could be available again
Speaking in an interview (h/t Express), Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has confirmed that Dusan Vlahovic has turned down an extension at the club amidst Tottenham Hotspur links.
The 21-year-old centre-forward was linked with several clubs this summer, including Tottenham Hotspur. The North London outfit were apparently keen on a deal for the Serbian as they planned on fielding him alongside Harry Kane, who they also managed to keep at the club despite interest from Manchester City.
However, Fiorentina were eager to not let go of their striker, who knocked in 21 league goals for them last season. Atletico Madrid were the only one to formally approach the Italian club and put an offer on the table, but that too was rejected.
The Serie A club were confident of tying down their star man to a new deal, but President Rocco Commisso has confirmed that Vlahovic has turned an extension and it is ‘over’. Commisso told reporters in an interview (h/t The Express):
“Vlahovic has not accepted our huge contract extension proposal. We’ve been trying for months, but it’s over.”
His contract rejection is said to have put several clubs on alert. Manchester City are said to be interested to sign a striker while Borussia Dortmund are also understood to be keen on a move for the Serbian.

However, Tottenham, who failed to get a deal over the line this summer, are also expected to register an interest again. Given that Kane is the only out-and-out centre-forward at the club, it would do a world of good for Nuno Espirito Santo and co to have a backup or another option to approach the game with. Thus, while it is still early days, Fabio Paratici and Spurs could hatch a move for Vlahovic in the future.
