Injury News: Return dates still uncertain for Ryan Sessegnon and Steven Bergwijn for Tottenham Hotspur
Football.london has provided an injury update on Tottenham Hotspur players Ryan Sessegnon and Steven Bergwijn as the international break enters the business end.
Tottenham Hotspur have had to face some struggles in recent weeks. Their victory against Aston Villa was a breath of fresh air after recording 3 straight losses prior to that match. Harry Kane also scored a spectacular hat-trick in Spurs 5-1 win against NS Mura.
Despite these recent results, there has been mounting pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo and the squad to continue their winning form and provide some consistency. The team could certainly use every available option right now and the absence of two young exciting players can be a blow for the Lilywhites.
Steven Bergwijn injury latest
Bergwijn’s last match in a Tottenham jersey was in the European clash with French team Rennes, where he picked up a foot problem. The young forward has been an essential part of the North London club and put in an impressive performance from time to time.
The Spurs boss spoke about the Dutch international’s injury ahead of their London derby against rivals Arsenal:
“I think I explained the injury he has is very painful so he has to settle down. He has not totally stopped. He is doing some fitness, some upper body. For now, he is not available.”
The player is thought to be training with the team but there is still no confirmed date about his availability for the PL club.
Ryan Sessegnon update
The 21-year-old brings a lot of versatility to the table. He can play as a left-back and left-winger. His youthful vigour can help mix things in the current squad who are trying to get their dynamics right under the current Portuguese manager.
The youngster picked up an injury when he was on international duty for the England U-21 team. Sessegnon has been linked with a move away from the club recently but is just mere speculation at this point in time. Nuno again was unable to give a returning date on the young English international.
The Lilywhites boss commented on his current injury situation:
“We don’t know [when he will return]. They are improving, day by day.”
