Tottenham Hotspur could battle other Premier League clubs as Juventus set price for Weston McKennie
According to Calciomercato via teamTALK (h/t Football.london), Weston McKennie could be part of a transfer battle between Tottenham Hotspur and other Premier League clubs.
The USA international is thought to be on the radar of several clubs as his performances in the last few years have caught the eyes of fans across Europe. McKennie came through the ranks at FC Schalke 04 where he made a name for himself. The youngster scored 5 goals and provided 7 assists in 91 games across all competitions for the Bundesliga club.
The 23-year-old USA midfielder has played 53 games across all competitions for Juventus FC in which he has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists. Spurs have had a turbulent start to this season as they are currently situated on 8th position in the PL table.
Tottenham Hotspur have found it difficult to break down opposition defences recently as Harry Kane is yet to open his scoring account in the Premier League this season. The North-London club could use another talented midfielder in their ranks to help add that dash of attacking impetus to their team. The management will be under a lot of pressure to add a suitable attacker after their recent run of form in England’s top flight and McKennie could be a suitable option for Spurs.
West Ham United are thought to rival the Lilywhites for the signature of the 23-year-old midfielder. With a lot of speculation surrounding their star midfielder Declan Rice, the Hammers could be interested in bringing in another talented midfielder who could provide some impetus to the West London club. Everton and Aston Villa are thought to be the other clubs that are interested in Weston McKennie.
Any move to Tottenham Hotspur stadium is very tentative at this stage but Nuno Espirito Santo could use a midfielder like him to make a significant impact in the middle of the pitch. The USA footballer may find it tough to adapt to the conditions of England’s top flight but could be a great investment in the future of the club if he is molded in a suitable environment should he make the switch.
