Transfer News: Newcastle United interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli
According to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Football.london), Newcastle United are believed to be interested in purchasing Tottenham Hotspur ace Dele Alli after the takeover.
The English professional enjoyed a great spell under former manager Mauricio Pochettino. He has since struggled to regain that clinical ability in front of goal. The 25-year-old only managed to register 3 goals and 5 assists across all competitions for the Lilywhtes last season.
His current contract with the North London club is set to expire in 2024 which means that the Magpies may have to shell out a significant amount should they want to purchase the player. The Spurs midfielder has failed to make a substantial impact under current boss Nuno Espirito Santo as well with only 1 goal from 6 Premier League appearances so far this season.
The current takeover of Newcastle has sparked a lot of excitement amongst fans and supporters alike. The new owners would be looking to make a bold statement and bring in fresh talent to help bolster the chances of the Tyneside-based club to compete at a much higher level.
Amanda Staveley commented on her intentions to turn the Magpies into a force to be reckoned with in conversation with Sky Sports (h/t Football.london):
“Newcastle United deserves to be top of the Premier League. We want to get there. It will take time, but we will get there”
Spurs have started the season in great fashion after facing some turbulence with consecutive losses against London clubs Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Arsenal. The Lilywhites managed to get back to winning ways against Aston Villa in the PL but have yet to start firing on all cylinders as their star striker Harry Kane still hasn’t opened his goals scoring account in England’s top-flight league.

Spurs are currently 8th in the PL table and would be looking to notch a victory against Newcastle United in their next fixture. Any talk of a move that sees the 25-year-old English midfielder join the Magpies will only become clearer as time passes. That being said, Alli would have to start performing more consistently if he is to make a greater impact in this Spurs team.
