Confirmed: Steve Bruce will take charge of Newcastle United against Tottenham Hotspur
Speaking in an interview before the game this weekend (h/t Sky Sports), Steve Bruce embarrassed the reporters who believed he would be sacked before Sunday and confirmed that he will lead Newcastle United out against Tottenham Hotspur.
The match against Spurs will also mark the 1000th game as a manager for Bruce. These last few weeks have been marked by a lot of uncertainty over the managerial position of the Tyneside-based club. The recent £305m takeover of the Toons has been an occasion that has been celebrated by many fans in Newcastle.
With the backing of the new owners, the management will hopefully be able to go out and make some substantial transfers in the January transfer window. Newcastle are sitting on 19th in the Premier League table and would be looking to make a drastic change in their form. The Toons have not managed to record a single victory in the PL this campaign.
Steve Bruce has also hit out at all the reporters and journalists who were reporting that the former Manchester United player would be on his way out of the club already:
“It’s been difficult, of course, but I hope you guys are getting a slap now from your bosses to say that you haven’t done your job. Whoever your source was, whoever it was who was feeding you didn’t get it right, so I hope you’re feeling a bit of heat.”
Rafa Benitez, Steven Gerrard, and Brendan Rodgers were touted as some of the replacements for Steve Bruce. The 60-year-old will be fulfilling his managerial duties and Spurs will be looking to spoil the party at St James’ park after the joyful mood after the news of their new owners. The New co-owner Amanda Staveley has also hinted that the club wants to be patient in its approach and no substantial change should be expected overnight.

Tottenham Hotspur have themselves been struggling with indifferent form as they have already lost to fellow London clubs Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Arsenal in England’s top flight this season. Nuno was able to get his squad back to winning ways against Aston Villa but will have to continue that form post the international break if they want to get back to the top again.
