Two unnamed players from Tottenham Hotspur have tested positive for Covid-19 before Newcastle United showdown
According to Football.london (h/t Chronicle Live), Tottenham Hotspur are set to face a major worry as two of their players have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of their Premier League clash against Newcastle United.
The Lilywhites have had a rocky campaign in the PL so far. Spurs have received another setback before their fixture against Newcastle United on Sunday as two of their players have tested positive for Covid-19. The respective players will have to isolate for 10 days in accordance with the standard operating procedure.
The name of this duo is still kept under wraps and but it is believed that they took part in training sessions with the club on Thursday. The North London club are believed to be confident that none of the other players have contracted the virus before the game against the Tyneside-based club.
The burden of a hectic schedule can take its toll on even the best footballers in the world. Top clubs like Tottenham Hotspur have to work hard to protect their players both physically and mentally especially after returning from an international break.
Nuno Espirito Santo spoke up about the kind of disruption that is caused and the difficulty faced by the club to reintegrate these players in the senior squad again:
“After the international break, there are always huge issues that happen. We have problems but I will not say before the game.”
Routine tests are always carried under the guidance of the footballing bodies and the UK government to safeguard players from such potential hazards ever since ‘Project Restart’. That being said Nuno would be hoping that the other available players can help them put on a dazzling display against the Toons.
