Nuno Espirito Santo expresses his pride at Tottenham Hostpur players whose timely actions helped save a life at Newcastle
In conversation with Sky Sports, Nuno Espirito Santo has shared that he was ‘very proud’ of the Tottenham Hotspur team for helping a Newcastle United fan in need of dire medical assistance at St James Park on Sunday.
Sergio Reguilon was the first player to bring the incident to the attention of referee Andre Marriner. The Toons doctor Paul Catterson did well to react quickly to the situation and was on spot immediately. The fan has now recouped well at the Royal Victoria Infirmary hospital in Newcastle.
The Spanish left-back was praised for his alertness during the game. Allan Saint-Maximin also shared his appreciation for the 24-year-old’s actions via a tweet. In this latest interview, Nuno has gone on to praise his team for the way they reacted to the urgent situation.
He also spoke about the kind of effect it had on Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, whose Danish teammate Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest in the UEFA European Football Championship 2020 against Finland. That was really tough match for supporters all across the world but thankfully the 29-year-old Denmark international recovered well.
Eriksen has been a great servant for the North London club. He played 305 matches for the Lilywhites in which he scored 69 goals and provided 90 assists across all competitions before making the switch to Inter Milan. Nuno explained how the incident on Sunday brought back some tough memories for Hojbjerg.
