Alasdair Gold claims that Tottenham Hotspur could look for a new attacker this January transfer window
According to reliable journalist Alasdair Gold of Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur could look to add another attacker to their club in the upcoming January transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur have had a rocky start to the season but have seemed to gain some momentum in the Premier League with back-to-back victories against Aston Villa and Newcastle United. Harry Kane has found it difficult to get going in the PL this season. He finally managed to open his goal-scoring account in England’s top flight this season against the Magpies last weekend.
The Lilywhites had a nervous few minutes towards the end due to an own goal from Eric Dier. Thankfully the North London club managed to hold tight and keep their nerve for a win. Spurs now have to face a tough schedule with the matches coming thick and fast. This is especially the case during December where the club could potentially play as many as nine matches.
The Football.London reporter highlighted how Spurs has become heavily dependent on a couple of players for their attacking threat in recent times. he went on to add that bringing in new attacking reinforcements is on the agenda.
“Definitely. Dane Scarlett will get minutes here and there until then, and that will help the 17-year-old’s development, but it’s one area of the squad where too much pressure is being put on two players to share the load and in Kane and Son they’re players who are too key to lose to injuries through overuse. Then it’s over to that age-old issue of finding a striker of the required quality in the January window who is willing to come and play back-up to Kane.”
There is also a looming uncertainty over the English captain’s future as he was linked with a move to Manchester City in the summer but the move was eventually blocked by the club. It took the 28-year-old striker 8 games to finally score his first PL goal of the season. Dane Scarlett has shown great potential but it may be too soon to put any kind of serious load on him.

Gold has highlighted the need to get a new attacker who can help ease some of the burdens on Kane and Son Heung-min. Adding another attacker in the squad would also help Nuno Espirito Santo rotate his squad to prevent any mishap to his star players. This would also help create healthier competition in the attacking department while also providing depth for the North Londoners.
