Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris highlights the importance of consistency following West Ham United setback

According to the Express, veteran French goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris has urged Tottenham Hotspur players to carry on and keep giving their best for the club despite the roadblocks they have hit of late.

The Lilywhites have had a rocky start to the season under Nuno Espirito Santo so far. Harry Kane has struggled to get going and has only one goal in eight Premier League games this season. Spurs have also lost all their London derbies in the Premier League this season and have suffered back-to-back defeats against SBV Vitesse and West Ham United in the last few days.

The North London club have struggled to maintain a sustained attacking threat this campaign. Their inability to be clinical in matches was highlighted against the Hammers. The French captain has at times been pretty brutal in his assessment of fellow Tottenham teammates but has shown a bit more res traint in his statements this time around.

Lloris spoke about the responsibilities that are faced by the players every season. He also highlights the need for improvement in the games ahead of them. Given the inconsistent nature of the team’s performances,  something has got to give.

“We know that there are a lot of expectations, same as every season, on our shoulders and the players have a responsibility to do their best. And when I see all the players I think they are trying to do their best………. We need to carry on with good energy and positiveness. We cannot give up – there are many games ahead of us and we are going to try to improve individually and collectively.”

The Lilywhites haven’t won a single major trophy for 13 years and the supporters, as well as players, would be restless to get their hands on some silverware. Tottenham has gone through a chaotic situation with changes in the manager and the system. The right results on the pitch could bring about a semblance of stability.

Hugo Lloris has been an instrumental part of Tottenham Hotspur ever since his arrival

Lloris has been a faithful servant to the club and a dependable asset for the better part of a decade. The French international joined the North Londoners for an initial sum of £7.9million from Olympique Lyonnais in 2012. Ever since that move, the 34-year-old goalkeeper has played 382 matches in all competitions for Spurs.
