Injury News: An intimate look at the current Tottenham Hotspur stars out injured
According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur face issues with several of their players out with injury following the dissapointing defeat to West Ham United at the weekend.
The Lilywhites had a tepid game against the Hammers on Sunday and never got going. Spurs succumbed to a defeat as Michail Antonio slotted in a header which took the West London club climb into 4th position on the PL table after nine matches this season.
With Manchester United up next, Tottenham have a number of their players on the physio’s table. We now take a look at how the trio of Steven Bergwijn, Matt Doherty, and Ryan Sessegnon are doing.
Steven Bergwijn
The Dutch international has slowly been integrated into the squad again. His start against SBV Vitesse in the UEFA Europa Conference League was the first time he appeared in a Spurs jersey since the 2-2 draw with Stade Rennais F.C. in September.
While it ended in a stunning defeat for Spurs in the Netherlands, Bergwijn at the very leats got a run out. He was also used as a substitute late in the game against West Ham. This suggests that the 24-year-old forward may be back to his proper fitness levels again.
Matt Doherty
The former Wolves player has been out of contention for the Lilywhites ever since he picked up a knock in the Republic of Ireland’s 4-0 win over Qatar on 13th October. Doherty has missed the matches against Newcastle United as well as that against West Ham.
There is still no return date for the 29-year-old wing-back at Tottenham. This limits the options that Nuno Espirito Santo has at his disposal in the fullback spots.
Ryan Sessegnon
The youngster made the switch to the North London club from Fulham for £25m with add ons as a 19-year-old. Despite the buzz around the younger, he has found it difficult to nail down a position in the starting lineup of this team.
His chances have been further hindered due to the injury that he picked up when he was playing with the England U-21 squad last month.
Nuno commented about the wing-back and the 21-year-old English professional footballer: As things stand, he does not appear to be ready to return to action just yet.
“Yes, unfortunately. Matt’s improving. Sess also but they’re not in the group yet. Next week, we’ll see if we have good news.”

Nuno has been under immense pressure as Tottenham have endured a rocky start to the season. The lack of depth and creativity was highlighted in Conference League loss to Dutch side Vitesse. With a hectic schedule on the cards, the management would be hoping for the availability of as many players as possible.
