Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte shares his delight at Oliver Skipp penning new contract.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp gives scathing verdict after Premier League loss to West Ham United

In an interview with the official Tottenham Hotspur site (h/t Football.London), Oliver Skipp makes an honest assessment of the loss to West Ham United in their last Premier League fixture.

The youngster has been one of the standout performers for Spurs this season despite their rocky start. He has become a dependable asset and cemented a place in the regular starting lineup under Nuno Espirito Santo. The 21-year-old has formed an impressive partnership with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg in the middle of the pitch.

The Lilywhites have failed to win any of their London derbies in the Premier League this season. This fact is made even worse with their lack of clinical finishing in front of goal which was also highlighted in the game against the Hammers.

Skipp spoke with a sense of maturity and responsibility. He even hinted that there was still immense work to be done under the Santo:

“There’s a lot of things we could probably do better for the goal, probably myself included as well but we’re disappointed with the manner we conceded. There’s still a lot of work we need to be doing. You can see we’re still evolving under the new manager,”

The 21-year-old has already made 9 appearances in the PL for the North London club this season. His loan spell at Norwich City last season could also have played a big part in his development as a professional footballer. The Hertfordshire-born player made 47 appearances for the Canaries across all competitions during which he scored 1 goal and provided 2 assists for them.

Skipp’s verdict of how things panned out was a bit different from what the Portuguese manager and Harry Kane. The English professional footballer has shown his hunger and eagerness to get on the ball. In a relatively disappointing season so far the youngster has brought a breath of fresh air to Tottenham. The Spur faithful would be hoping that the young midfielder could continue his development in the same manner.
