Former Spurs star Teddy Sheringham urges Harry Kane to up his game at Tottenham Hotspur
According to former Tottenham Hotspur striker Teddy Sheringham (h/t Evening Standard), ace forward Harry Kane needs to change and put in better performances for the club.
The 28-year-old has struggled to get going this season and has only one goal in eight Premier League games this season. The English captain was linked with a move to fellow rivals Manchester City in the summer transfer window but that eventually failed to materialize.
He seems like a pale shadow of the prolific striker that people know him to be. The English striker scored 33 goals and notched up 17 assists across 49 games in all competitions for the Lilywhites last season. He has struggled this season and a huge chunk of his seven goals this campaign have come against lesser opponents in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Sheringham spoke about Kane’s current form and highlighted the fact that the striker needs to start putting in better performances. His being under the weather has increased the load on Son Heung-Min this season.
“He was probably given assurances that he could leave. Those assurances haven’t been stuck to and it looks like Kane has the hump. He needs to change that around and realise he is still the Tottenham vice-captain and still a Tottenham player and do better.”
Nuno Espirito Santo has struggled to get his squad performing consistently. They managed to win their opening three games in the Premier League this season which saw them go top of the table for a while. Ever since that honeymoon phase, the Lilwyhites haven’t been able to secure victories regularly.
Kane is one of the best players in the world and must show his best for Tottenham. Even if he is unhappy with not being allowed to leave in the summer, it is no excuse to down his tools. As a professional and one of Spurs’ top stars, the onus is on him to step up.

Nuno’s attackers have failed to create a sustainable threat in front of goal and the Portuguese manager has lost all of his London derbies in the Premier League this season. The lack of squad depth has also been highlighted in some of their recent matches. The squad as well as the supporters would be hoping that the Lilywhites and Kane can get their act together in the matches to come.
