Michael Bridge believes Manchester United Jesse Lingard would be a good addition for Tottenham Hotspur
In conversation with Givemesport, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge feels that Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard could do a good job at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old United academy product has struggled to feature regularly in the starting lineup despite putting in some crucial performances. His footballing career seemed to be waning a couple of seasons ago but his loan spell at West Ham United appears to have reignited that spark within him.
The English international played 16 matches for the Hammers across all competitions during which he scored nine goals and provided five assists. This seems to have filled him with a bit more confidence as he has scored two goals and provided one assist in seven appearances for the Red Devils. All this in just 146 minutes on the pitch.
Bridge spoke about Lingard and also believes that he is the kind of player that could have a great impact with the Lilywhites:
“Would Lingard want to go to Newcastle? I don’t know. But Spurs, I think he could definitely do a job at Spurs.”
The North London club have lacked creativity in the middle of the pitch this season. Tanguy Ndombele has impressed in pieces but Spurs still haven’t managed to create a whole lot going in front. A player with Jesse’s skill set could be a great addition to any team.
Spurs’ troubles have only been further increased by the lack of goals from Harry Kane this season. Players like Dele Alli have failed to step up to the occasion whenever given the chance. Harry Winks has also found himself in a dire situation with a lack of playing opportunities with the North Londoners.

The Portuguese manager could definitely use some who can rouse the midfield and instil some imagination and drive to it. With the January transfer window approaching it should be seen whether the Tottenham outfit goes on in search of another attacker. A good spell at Tottenham in the second half of the season could very well see Lingard make it to the England squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
