Fabrizio Romano commented on Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo amidst a poor run of form
According to Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast, Tottenham Hotspur are still protecting manager Nuno Espirito Santo despite poor results in the last few games.
The Portuguese manager has had a rocky start to life with the North London club. He could be under increasing pressure due to his team’s inability to carve out an attacking threat. Santo had to suffer his 4th loss to a London club in the Premier League this season against West Ham United last Sunday.
He also suffered a defeat to Dutch club SBV Vitesse in the UEFA Europa Conference League tie midweek. The former Wolves coach is coming on the back of some disappointing results. His worries have been further compounded by the fact that Tottenham’s star striker Harry Kane has struggled to get going this campaign.
Fabrizio commented on Nuno’s situation at Tottenham in his podcast. He also mentions that the hierarchy at Tottenham are protecting the manager in the nascent stages of his tenure with the Lilywhites:
“Tottenham are disappointed about losing the London derbies but they are still protecting the manager. At the moment they are still with Nuno.”
Spurs are set to face Burnley in their next EFL Cup tie following which they will take on Manchester United on 30th October. The London-based club would be looking to the domestic cup competitions this season as their safest bet for some silverware.
The Lilywhites will also play the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League tie against SBV Vitesse on 5th November. Nuno’s men have had an indifferent start to this season and would be looking to make a greater impact in this list of fixtures.
