Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur handed a major boost in the pursuit of Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi
In conversation with Tuttosport (h/t Football.London), Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has hinted that he would be willing to sell Tottenham Hotspur target Domenico Berardi for the right price. The Italian forward has been on the radar of Spurs for some time now.
The 27-year-old forward has played 298 matches for U.S. Sassuolo Calcio across all competitions so far and during that time he has scored 109 goals as well as provided 69 assists. He has become an instrumental part of the Italian club and their attacking threat.
The Lilywhites have struggled with their attacking threat this season with too much pressure on a few individuals. With star striker, Harry Kane struggling to get going, the attack as a whole has suffered.
Adding a reliable goalscorer into the mix could prove to be pivotal for the Spurs attack clicking. Carnevali highlighted that he would be ready to sell the Serie A club’s prized asset provided they were offered the right amount:
“They [Berardi and Boga] certainly don’t move in January. We’ll see in the summer. The principle is the same: we are ready to sell our jewels to the big names – but only if the offers are satisfactory. Exactly as happened with [Manuel] Locatelli.”
Spurs will however have to wait until the summer to make a move. Sassuolo are in no mood to let their star man go in January and have made it clear. There appears to be a price for every player and it is up to Spurs if they will meet Sassuolo’s valuation.
Nuno Espirito Santo has had an indifferent start to life at Tottenham. He has lost all of the London derbies with Spurs this season in the Premier League. The lack of squad depth in the North London side was also highlighted in their 1-0 defeat to SBV Vitesse in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
It is believed that Arsenal and Manchester United have also made inquiries about the talented Italian forward. The 27-year-old Italian footballer is a consistent performer for both club and country and often does not receive the praise he deserves.

Berardi could take some time to adapt to the intensity and pace of the Premier League. That being said he would certainly provide Nuno with an excellent attacking option and help him rotate his players in a more efficient manner. Securing Berardi will be nothing short of a coup for Tottenham.
