Some fans react on Twitter as Tottenham Hotspur beat Burnley in the Round of 16 of the EFL Cup
According to the club’s official Twitter account, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Burnley 1-0 in the Round of 16 of the EFL Cup.
The North London outfit lost on the weekend to West Ham United and missed out on an opportunity to get into the Top 4. However, they had no issues on Wednesday as they defeated the Clarets at Turf Moor, thanks to a second-half header by Lucas Moura.
Nuno Espirito Santo made six changes to his team from Sunday as fringe stars in the form of Bryan Gil, Ben Davies, and Steven Bergwijn got a run-out while Pierluigi Gollini retained his spot as the Cup goalkeeper. Giovani Lo Celso and Davinson Sanchez also came into the team, although one was more useful than the other on the day.
After a stiff first-half performance, Nuno brought on the cavalry in the second half as Moura, Son Heung-min, and Tanguy Ndombele were brought in to inject speed, creativity, and decisiveness.
And sure enough, after a little over an hour’s play, Spurs’ two Brazilians in Emerson Royal and Moura found the breakthrough as the former whipped in the ball, and the latter headed the ball into the ground and in the back of the net.
Burnley retaliated soon enough as the quartet of Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes, Maxwel Cornet, and Aaron Lennon came on. While they did probe time and again, Cristian Romero and Sanchez did an incredible job at the back while Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg ran the hard yards and closed down the opposition.
Their hard work paid off as they helped Spurs enter the quarter-final of the EFL Cup. Let us now see how the club’s fans reacted on Twitter to the victory.

Something to be positive about. A win is a win, Moura for me the best of a bad bunch, always willing, energetic, positive and likely to cause problems.

Absolute dreadful performance again but got the win. Sanchez and Romero were immense last 20. Must of been a 100 long ball / throw in pumps forward from Burnley at the end. Sooner they get relegated the better

Thank goodness.
Hopefully this will be a springboard to go on a winning run – still not creating enough, but Emerson and Lucas found a way so now the rest need to find ways too.
