Lucas Moura came close to joining Manchester United before moving to PSG
In an interview given to ESPN Brasil (h/t Mirror) Lucas Moura revealed that he almost joined Manchester United before opting for Paris Saint-Germain in 2012.
Moura was a rising talent back in 2012, starring for Sao Paulo in his native Brazil. A return of 33 goals in 128 games had European giants Inter Milan and Manchester United sit up and take notice.
In the same summer that Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie moved to Old Trafford, Moura decided to move to PSG instead.
Moura spent 6 seasons in the French capital before moving to Tottenham and scored 46 goals in 229 appearances for PSG. During this time, he won Ligue one 4 times, the French League cup 4 times and the Coupe de France 3 times.
Although his stint with the French champions was trophy-laden, Moura was not able to fulfill his promise. He, however, does not regret making the move to Paris and believes he learned a lot.
“Despite the hard times, the bad times, I don’t regret it because I grew a lot, I learned a lot. Now I’m here in the Premier League, and it’s a new hope”
Moura moved to Tottenham in 2018 and has scored 20 goals in 78 appearances for us. Among them, the unforgettable hattrick in Amsterdam sending us to our first Champions League final is a memorable one.
