Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur might let Dele Alli leave the club in the January transfer window
According to the Athletic (subscription required) [h/t Chronicle Live], Daniel Levy would be open to letting 25-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli leave the club in the coming January transfer window.
The English international has struggled to maintain his consistency in the team. He was mighty impressive under former manager Mauricio Pochetino but has stagnated of sorts in the last couple of seasons.
The 25-year-old hasn’t made the most of his opportunities this season either. His disappointing performance against SBV Vitesse in the UEFA Europa Conference League has certainly not have done him any favours. The Lilywhites have struggled to create any real attacking threat this season and have heavily relied on Son Heung Min in the final third.
Alli was previously linked to Paris Saint-Germain in a move that could have seen him reunite with Pochettino. Spurs however refused to play ball and clocked the deal. The English midfielder has also been linked to newly rich Newcastle United after their recent takeover.
Spurs icon Glenn Hoddle has backed the former MK Dons to get going at Spurs once again. He hinted that the 25-year-old should be played in a more attacking position to get the best out of him. He even went on to compare Dele with the likes of Mason Mount and Phil Foden.
Despite these remarks, the 25-year-old midfielder was dropped from the squad that played against Burnley in their latest EFL Cup tie. Fellow teammate Harry Winks also suffered the same fate and was left out of the team that travelled to Turf Moor.

Alli has been awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year twice. Only Ryan Giggs, Robbie Fowler, and Wayne Rooney have managed this feat before. With a hectic festive season, the English midfielder could still be awarded more opportunities to make a mark for himself. That being said it seems as though a move away from the club could be a likely outcome.
