Nuno Espirito Santo not under immediate pressure at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Manchester United showdown
According to Evening Standard (h/t Express), Nuno Espirito Santo and his position at Tottenham Hotspur isn’t under immediate threat even if Spurs fail to get a favourable result against Manchester United.
The Portuguese manager has had an indifferent start to life with the Lilywhites. He started off in fine fashion with three consecutive victories in Premier Lague which included a resolute 1-0 win against Manchester City. The 47-year-old manager has failed to maintain that sort of consistency ever since.
His side has put on some tepid displays, to say the least in their last few games. Their victory in the EFL Cup tie against Burnley would have provided him with a ray of hope. It is also believed that the fans are growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of attacking intent in Nuno’s squad.
This worry has been further compounded by the lack of goals from Harry Kane in the PL this season. Their lack of squad depth has also been highlighted in the disappointing loss to SBV Vitesse in their last UEFA Europa Conference League fixture. Despite all this criticism and lack of cohesion, the former Wolves manager is still at a relatively nascent stage in his managerial tenure with Tottenham.
The Lilywhites have also lacked reinforcements in the attacking department. 17-year-old Dane Scarlett seems like the only natural backup striker for the London-based club. That being said he is still very young to take on the mantle from the English striker.
Nuno’s counterpart Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may not be afforded that kind of time or opportunity at Manchester United. The Red Devils have already succumbed to some humiliating losses and are yet to win any silverware with the Norwegian manager in charge of the club.

Spurs have been plagued with several issues over the last few seasons. They haven’t won a single major trophy in the last 13 years. It seems like the Portuguese manager will be afforded more time at N17 but hierarchy and supporters would be hoping for a more exciting brand of football in the future at Tottenham Hotspur.
