Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo shares his opinion on Dele Alli and Harry Winks
According to Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur manager, Nuno Espirito Santo has given his verdict on midfielders Dele Alli and Harry Winks. He also spoke about their future as the duo are linked with moves away from the club in the January transfer window.
The English midfield duo have struggled to cement a regular starting spot with the Lilywhites in the last few seasons. Alli was an upcoming starlet who won the PFA Young Player of the Year award twice. Winks too was touted to achieve great things and was even compared to Spanish legends Xavi Hernandez and Andrés Iniesta buy former manager Mauricio Pochetino.
Despite huge expectations, both of their footballing careers seem to have stalled with the North London club. The former MK Dons player failed to score in the Premier League last season in 15 appearances for the Lilywhites. He has so far notched a solitary goal in Premier League this campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Nuno highlighted the fact that January is a long time away and they would try and deal with their situation until that point. Ay 25, Dele Alli still has time to turn his career around. Nuno may not have said it outright but his words do not appear reassuring.
‘We are talking about January. So far away. We have to focus on what we have to do now. All the players, with all the players. All the personal situations, I address them personally. I speak, when I have to speak, privately. Say the things, listen to the things that the players have to say, and this is how we deal with things not here. I take care of them personally.’
Winks has also hinted that he needs to have a serious conversation regarding his future at Tottenham Hotspur with the Portuguese manager. The midfield duo got an opportunity to show their worth in the UEFA Europa Conference League match against SBV Vitesse. But a disappointing 1-0 loss didn’t do either of them any favours.
