Tottenham Hotspur draw West Ham United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final
There’s a tasty offering in the quarterfinal tie in the Carabao Cup, with Tottenham Hotspur set to host West Ham United in what will most certainly be a feisty affair.
The Hammers have already beaten Spurs in the Premier League clash last weekend at the London Stadium so Nuno Espirito Santo and co. will be out for revenge in the last eight.
West Ham United have done brilliantly in the Carabao Cup so far after knocking out both Manchester United and Manchester City in the previous stages. Tottenham on the other hand overcame Burnley at Turf Moor earlier this to seal their progression into the final eight of the domestic cup competition.
Spurs will be looking for Nuno’s side to go one further than they did last season, having suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the final at Wembley to prolong the thirteen-year wait for a trophy.
Tough tie ahead in the EFL Cup
The Carabao Cup, then called the Carling Cup, was the last trophy that Tottenham Hotspur Club won back in 2008.
So the club will be hoping that their wait for the trophy finally ends this time around but it won’t be a cakewalk. Although the defending champions City have been knocked out of the competition, there are still some really strong teams involved. So, it certainly will not be easy for us to go all the way.
The Carabao Cup semi-finals will return to being two-legged affairs, after the EFL chose to make last year’s semi-finals only one leg due to the COVID-19 fixture congestion.
Tottenham’s London rivals Arsenal will take on Sunderland while Chelsea have drawn up Brentford. Meanwhile, Liverpool will face tricky Leicester City in the quarters.
Quarter-final ties will be played during the week commencing 20 December 2021.
