Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Antonio Conte to Tottenham Hotspur is done with a verbal agreement in place
According to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Antonio Conte has a verbal agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the managerial role at the club. Conte was heavily linked to Spurs following the sack of Nuno Espirito Santo.
The 52-year-old was the former coach of Chelsea and has won two trophies in his stint at Stamford Bridge, including the Premier League in his first season. He was also responsible for breaking Juventus’ dominance in Seria A as he won the league with Inter Milan during their last campaign.
The Italian was the favourite for the Tottenham job as Fabio Paratici, the Managing Director of Football, has worked with him at Juve. And he is apparently influential in convincing him to take the mantle as the next coach.
“Antonio Conte to Tottenham, confirmed and here we go. The contract until June 2023 will be signed on Tuesday. The verbal agreement is now completed. He’s back in the Premier League. Fabio Paratici wanted him since June and changed Conte’s mind. Incredible work.”
The Italian journalist states that the former Seria A coach will have a contract till 2023. He also adds that the club will announce his appointment on Tuesday as there is an agreement between the two parties.
It can be seen as a huge deal by the fans as the former Inter boss is a title winner and would help the English club to aspire for silverware. The lack of trophies has haunted the club and he would ensure that the club have the best chance to fill their trophy cabinet.

The board deserves criticism for their lack of solid planning since Conte rejected them in the summer. But, they also need to be appreciated for taking quick actions and making the right choice. The job is not over as they would have to back the former Chelsea boss through signings, which was the case at his previous clubs.
