Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur keeping tabs on Federico Chiesa, Matthijs de Ligt and Alessandro Bastoni
According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Federico Chiesa, Matthijs de Ligt and Alessandro Bastoni from Seria A. The interest is following the appointment of Antonio Conte as our new manager.
The Italian was announced as the manager yesterday and has a contract with the club till 2023 with an option to extend. His arrival, coupled with Fabio Paratici’s involvement at the club, has linked the club with a few stars from the Italian league.
The promising Juventus duo of Chiesa and de Ligt is said to be on the list of Tottenham to bolster the squad. The Italian manager would be well experienced on the duo due to his recent stint at Inter Milan.
Next on the list is Bastoni, who has been a mainstay for the Spurs boss during his time at San Siro. The highly-rated centre-back would offer young blood and would slot in seamlessly should he be signed.
The Seria A winners are currently in a financial crisis, and this could potentially pave way for the 22-year-old to move to the London based club. However, it remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri would be open to selling one of their star starters.
Juve are in a crisis of their own which has largely been self-inflicted, according to Miguel Delaney (h/t Independent). However, with Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini nearing the end of their career and the 24-year-old winger becoming the face of the Bianconeri, it would be a challenge for Spurs to pry the duo away.
