Tottenham striker Harry Kane could stay at the club following the appointment of Antonio Conte
According to The Sun (h/t Daily Star), Harry Kane could stay at Tottenham Hotspur following the announcement of Antonio Conte as the new manager. Kane had handed in a transfer request to move to Manchester City in the summer but failed to secure his desire.
Conte was appointed as the new boss of Tottenham yesterday after the club announced that Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked from the job. He has a contract that will run until 2023 with an option to extend if he wants to.
The 28-year-old is said to have had a rethink about his future as he believes the Italian could help the club to challenge for titles. If true, this could be great for Daniel Levy and the Spurs supporters after the drama that took place in the summer.
The lack of silverware at the club is said to be the reason why the England captain wanted to leave in the summer. Supposedly, he had a gentleman’s agreement with Levy, but the chairman did not stick to his word.
The Englishman was also biding his time to leave at the end of the season since his contract would enter into the last two years. However, the arrival of the new boss has made him think otherwise as the former Chelsea manager has brought in success at his previous clubs.
The entire squad is claimed to be uplifted by the news surrounding the new manager as it has instilled a feeling that they can challenge for titles. A similar sentiment is also shared among the fans as they believe the 52-year-old manager can bring them the first title since 2008.
