According to Nicolo Schira (h/t ESPN), Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a transfer blow as Inter Milan are preparing to put an end to speculation surrounding the future of their star midfielder, Marcelo Brozovic.
The Nerazzurri ace is currently in the final year of his contract and could leave the club next summer. The Italians are said to be keen to resolve the situation ahead of the winter transfer window. They want to reduce the risk of losing Brozovic as a free agent in the summer by coming to a resolution as soon as possible.
A four-year extension is on the table as the Seria A champions hope to put an end to interest in their Croatian star. Since the midfielder will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in January, Inter are keen to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Following the appointment of Antonio Conte, the Inter Milan midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to England. He was crucial in Conte’s journey to winning the league with Inter last season and played 33 games in the process.
The Italian knows the 28-year-old very well and could seamlessly slot him to his new team should a move be finalised. However, if the renewal is complete before the window, then it means that the English club would not even get a chance to try for him.
If the offer is accepted, it would secure the player’s future at San Siro till 2025. Iy could very well put an end to Tottenham’s hopes of landing him.
