Antonio Conte gives his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur winning the Premier League
According to the Evening Standard, Antonio Conte has given his honest opinion about the chances of Tottenham Hotspur winning the Premier League title. He will face Everton in the league tomorrow which, will be his first top-flight match since taking over Spurs.
Conte has won the league with the last three clubs he has managed and, he will try his best to do the same with Tottenham. However, it will be a tough ask as the last time they won a trophy was back in 2008.
The Italian has revealed that he joined the English club as he felt that he would have the license to make an identity of his own. However, he admitted that there is a gap between where the club currently is and the chances of challenging for the title. This is because he believes there are already four teams better than Tottenham in the league.
“I thought that his club could give me the opportunity to do what I like. But I know that we need to take a bit of time because in the Premier League now there is a gap with at least four teams.”
The formerInter Milan coach has urged the club to use this as a motivation, to get better and close the difference in quality. He adds that only then can they even think about challenging for titles. Liverpool and Manchester City have shown in recent seasons that there is no leeway afforded at the top.
“But this situation must be an incentive for us to work harder, to try to start to work to close this gap and to start to think that we have to be competitive and then to try to fight for the title.”
Conte is the last manager not named Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp to win the Premier League title. Whether he can repeat the trick, this time with Tottenham remains to be seen.

As the saying goes, ” When things are tough, the tough get going” is very much applicable in this situation. Like the boss mentioned, we need to be tough and use this as an incentive to get better and eventually be successful. Not only do we need to prove it to others, but we also need to prove to ourselves that we can achieve the things that we are yearning for.
