Arsenal leads Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic
According to Sky Sports Italy (h/t Daily Mail Online), North London rivals Arsenal are said to be leading Tottenham Hotspur in the race in signing Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The Serbian international is said to be the primary transfer target for Antonio Conte heading into the January transfer window. Following the appointment, the Italian wants the striker at Tottenham. However, the asking price has put off the interest.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side are also interested in the striker and are supposedly ready to match Fiorentina’s asking price of £68million. Talks between the two clubs are in the advanced stage and, this could be a major blow to Spurs.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette nearing the latter stages of their career, it is understandable why the Gunners are eyeing up the 21-year-old forward. However, nothing has been finalised as talks giving Spurs may be enough space to make a move.
Should the Gunners sign the striker, it is nothing short of a double whammy for Conte. Not only will he lose a major target to a rival but given the rivalry between both sides, it will be a difficult pill to swallow.
Daniel Levy might need to rethink his strategy as Harry Kane could also aim to leave in the coming transfer windows. Kane had pushed for a move to Manchester City in the summer but was not allowed to leave by the chairman, Daniel Levy.

Levy and Fabio Paratici needs to back the Conte if they want to challenge for titles. It means backing the manager through signings as well as preparing for potential departures like in the case of the England captain.
It remains to be seen what the Tottenham chief would make out of this situation as there is time to reflect ahead of the winter transfer window.
